The Gamma Nu Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., was established March 30th 1946 in Lynchburg, Virginia.  The founding members were:  Richard L. Armistead, Odell R. Carr, Charles E. Coulter, Charles R. McCeary, Sr., John L. Mitchell, Richard H. Ryans, Benjamin H. Scott, Clyde S. Scott, Edgar T. Thornton, and Henry P. Weeden.  These founding members laid the foundation for an organization that takes service to the community very seriously.
